Couldn't put it down - such a strong woman

I read Cassie's first book and was so moved I reached out to her on Facebook - not only is she talented and humble but she really is as she appears - kind and open.

Her story is so sad and would break most people, yet she has got through it and has written these poignant books for everyone to read - whether that be individuals personally touched by her story or readers who appreciate a literary master!

Having read 'I did tell, I did' I've been eagerly awaiting the release of 'nobody told me'. It hasn't dissapointed. Sometimes when reading it's hard to believe that this was somebody's reality. Excellently written and I recommend you read this book. The horror of prescription drugs are here in all their gory reality. Well done cassie for showing me I'm not alone.

ByS J JERMAN-COLLISon 16 October 2014

Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase

Having previously read, I did Tell by this author, I was intrigued to read this follow up, which explores the link between past issues and abuse with metal health issues. Cassie, shares her personal plight in order to explore this connection and how telling but not having anyone to actually hear her but to deal with the situation only through their own judgemental position, caused her further harm. The doctor's that she saw, barely gave eye contact, let alone see the damaged individual at the other side of their desk.

Instead they wrote prescription after prescription to dull her feelings and put her in a bauble that lead to a further painful battle against addiction and withdrawal from prescribed medication.

Her story is inspiring and what motivates her pen to paper is her desire to prevent others from the same fate, so much so that she is a qualified therapist herself. I too, feel her frustrations having undertaken counselling training and struggling to find paid work, while the NHS battles it's own standing in society with counselling still being reserved for those that can pay.

Cassie paid dearly to share this story and I hope that it continues to motivate and eventually provokes changes in our system that recognise the true value of therapy. I have huge respect for this brave and determined author.

A must read.

I bought this book as I read Cassie's first book. While reading it is hard to remember this is someone's life! I have read a lot of books but this one made me cry and shout more than any book I have read (some tears were happy ones). Without giving too much away I'm glad the authority system has changed (well at least I hope so). Well done Cassie for coming out the other side, you have proved that anything is achievable.

This second book delves into the issues Cassie had much further and is a truly tear jerking story... if you thought this was just a bolt-on...it's not... buy both books, but make sure you read the first one....errr.... first... great book, Cassie!!

I have previously read I did tell I did and was crying my eyes out and same with this book. I couldn't put it down. Kept going to bed early to read it. Truly amazing. I've read many real life books but none of them have been powerful enough to reduce me to tears. So heartfelt. I felt myself getting angry that another human could that to another. Cassie truly is an amazing person to have endured the pain and suffering that she did and came out the other end and be writing about her life that must be so painful to relive. I'm in total awe of this amazing lady. I would highly recommend this book x

This was a total waste of money as it is almost word for word a repeat of the first book. It should carry a warning of this so people only buy one or the other preferably the first as it's much cheaper.

CASSIE'S COMMENT:

Cassie Harte1 day ago

Just writing to thank you for your review and for purchasing my book, every royalty helps. I am sorry you thought it was repeating my first book I DID TELL I DID but I feel you must have missed the focus of this second book. NOBODY TOLD ME was written in response to hundreds of messages asking about how the medication affected my life. Yes it was mentioned in the book I DID TELL but not in detail. This second book is being used in Social work as an aid to recovery and , as you can see from all the other reviews, has been very well received, especially by those readers who have read I DID TELL. Nobody has said it repeated the first part of my life as that focuses on my childhood and NOBODY begins aged 15 years. . I am however a bit confused as to why, if you found the first book a waste of money and thought it badly written, you bought my second book. But I welcome every comment and thank you once again for the recommendation for I DID TELL I DID .

An eye opening must read book
ByJaneron 3 January 2015

Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase

After reading her first book 'I did tell, I did' I bought this one straight away.
Such an inspirational and very harrowing read. Cassie has gone through so much and is brutally honest throughout everything.
As someone who has taken anti depressant medication for years I was very intrigued about this side of the book. It's shocking and eye opening how doctors were so readily prescribing these tablets.
I cried throughout this book and thoroughly encourage others to read it. Inspirational.

I cant begin to explain how much this book has touched my heart strings, this book has really set a standard to highlight the needs and effects of prescribed medication, the fight in the author is just as the fight she had in the first book, "I did tell i did." there is no joy in medication but through the words of CASSIE HARTE you can finally get a chance to understand what a tiny part of it can feel like, I hugely recommend you read this book, im so pleased i did,

Powerful and Inspiring
ByC. owenon 7 December 2014

Format: Paperback

I am the author of Living With EvilI read this book in one night, I couldn't put it down. Cassie is very open and honest and courageous to be able to open up the way she does. I suffered something similar albeit for four years on prozac in 1997 when my doctor would not advise or support me in coming off prozac and getting my life back.

Very powerful and well written book, I also read "I did tell, I did" and found that to be heartbreaking and powerful and above all inspiring too, as the author of "Living with Evil" by Cynthia Owen.
